I am a HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist a Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a BPS Chartered Clinical Psychologist and has worked in psychology since 2001. I have specific skills in the psychological assessment and therapeutic intervention of individuals age 13-through to older age.
I practice in various clinics throughout Bristol, but mainly in the Redland/Clifton area. I am happy to provide sessions online via platforms such as Skype or ZOOM.
I am experienced in providing psychological assessments to aid diagnosis such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cognitive assessments and Mental Capacity, as well as assessments to aid diagnosis.
Therapeutically, I work with people experiencing difficulties with the experience of trauma/PTSD, anger, anxiety, low self-esteem, inner self critics, shame, stress/burnout & depression. These symptoms can be associated with historical traumatic experiences in childhood/adulthood, personal injury, loss & bereavement, abuse, bullying & domestic violence or active military service. I aim to help people recover from the effects of these stressful events on their personal functioning & relationships. I also help adjustment to life challenges including health conditions & life transitions; adolescence, parenting, relationship beginning/ending & divorce, & retirement. I am experienced in working with people on the Autism Spectrum and Veterans.
Some people live with a harsh inner self critic which makes them work extremely hard to achieve and get through life’s challenges. However, it can often leave people feeling really confused, exhausted or somehow feeling unfulfilled. For people living with self-criticism, therapy can be extremely helpful to learn to manage this and pursue goals that are driven by the values that are dear to them. This can be a really uplifting experience and one that I personally find helpful and I am always enthusiastic to help people discover this for themselves with support in the work we do together.
Being fully qualified in a range of techniques I can tailor therapy to meet your individual needs. I use interventions that are evidence based, which means that have been proven to have a significant beneficial effect on a person’s well-being. My clinical practice is influenced by different psychological models such as Compassion Focused Therapy & Compassionate Mind Training (CFT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema, Attachment and Systemic Therapy. An advantage of being trained in a range of different therapies means that I can blend the techniques from these models in order to meet the needs of my clients. I attend regular supervision and training workshops to keep my practice current for my clients.
You don't have to go through difficult times alone! I can provide a confidential, safe, calm and understanding space for you to explore your difficulties and learn new ways of being.
